SILENT WEEK END 5 MARCH 2016
SILENT WEEKEND MARCH 5 2016
Message from Chairman
On behalf of the League can I say how pleased we are with this initiative set up by Hampshire FA and applies to the Youth Leagues in their remit of which of course we are one.
This initiative has been subject to much discussion at various committees. It is the Youth Committee, whom I am a member of, that is strongly supporting this and is applicable to Youth Football only. As a Respect League and strong supporters of ensuring the Matchday experience for all is enjoyable with particular emphasis on the players. We as a League fully endorse this initiative. Equally such pilots rely on the full support of the Clubs and Teams in the League. Your support for this is of paramount importance to the League.
You will note that we have recently had the support of a new sponsor to the League. This initiative as part of our discussions and fits fully with our ethos and their support for friendly local football in the right environment. I also note the feedback from the recent survey we undertook that the foremost requirement was the enjoyable Matchday experience. There were also a number of comments asking for this to be tried.
I am as you know very proud of this League and the way we approach such initiatives. We were pioneers of Mini Soccer and this has helped the League grow to our current levels. We as a league provide football at all levels and as much as we can we provide this in an enjoyable atmosphere. Most importantly we provide this in a secure environment and we will continue to be at the sharp end of supporting initiatives that drive the best possible environment for all involved. It is important that we approach this pilot with your full support and I am sure I can rely on this.
I note there are some important Cup Semi Finals on this date. I am prepared to allow games here to be played here under normal circumstances rather than rearrange games. However if a Team wishes to support the Silent Weekend alongside their opposition I would be very grateful but I do understand that matter and leave with the teams involved. I have heard from some of those teams that are involved that they will support irrespective of the Semi Final status. I thank those people.
This is a very important initiative and the League fully support and therefore as a League we fully endorse. Please respect for one week the guidance that we have sent out.
Best of luck
Testway Youth Football League

Congratulations to Sarum Youth under 16's and Shooters under 13's in reaching the semi finals of the Hampshire Cup, games to be played on the 14th December.
The league has today heard of an horrendous accident involving goals within our league, I do not intend to go into detail all I will say is the boy involved is receiving treatment and is home.
The goals in question were not being used by the club and are not associated with the club. The organisation that owns the goals removed them immediately.
Can I ask all club to inspect their goals, if they are the type of goals that have welded hooks attached to the crossbar and uprights, I would suggest with urgency that the hooks are removed. In the modern game there is no need for these hooks as goals can be secures by clips.
Please make sure you check the goals that you use, so as to avoid a similar accident.

UNDER 18'S KNOCKOUT WINNERS
South Wonston Swifts U18 0 Worthy Youth 1
Congratulations to Worthy Youth winner the first Under 18's Knockout Trophy, very sporting match played at Amesbury Town- Well done both teams.
TESTWAY YFL v MID SOLENT YFL
Mid Solent 1
Superb game, on a difficult pitch and in a very blustery wind.
The first half started as the match would continue with hard physical challenges in midfield with both side trying to dominate, testway were unlucky on 3 occasions where with the wind were able to pierce and solid Solent defence and force the Solent keeper to make 3 top class saves. As in keeping with the game Solent then played some good football to take the ball straight down the other end and force the Testway keeper in to an equally good save.
The wind was a definite advantage and Testway just edged a tough first half on chances created.
In the second half and against the wind Testway had to defend consistant Solent pressure at one point defending 4 consecutive corners, the way both teams were playing it was always going to take something a little special to edge the game and that came 15 minutes time when the Solent player managed to create some space on the edge of the area and rifle home a goal.
Testway then started to apply pressure in search of the equaliser and had 3 consecutive corners of there own but were unable to make it pay before time ran out.
This was Representative football at its best and a great spectacle,
MOM - Tristen Knight / Matt Vickers
UNDER 18'A CUP FINAL

HAMPSHIRE CUP FINALS
Congratulations to Compton Youth on winning the Under 13's Hampshire Cup 3-0 over Fareham Town.
Commiserations to Littleton Juniorswho represented their club and the league brilliantly throughout the competition who were defeated 6-0 by Bishops Waltham who play in the Mid Solent League at this age group.
SOUTHERN INTER COUNTY FL
NORTH EAST HANTS YL 0 TESTWAY YFL 2
Very good result against a good stubborn NEHL side, Testway started the brightest and continued to create chances forcing numerous corners in the first half.
The midfield continued to create chances and never stopped closing down to try to stop NEHL attacks.
In the end though the first goal came from an unfortunate fumble in the area which allowed Josh to nick the ball away, turn and drill the ball in the bottom corner.
Chances continued to come and a couple of misses from close range did start to look like it was going to be one of those nights ! Testway will have felt slightly unlucky to be only 1-0 up at half time.
The second half continued in a similar way, NEHL looked dangerous in attack and the Testway defence needed to be organised and composed to deal with that threat.
In the end the second goal came from a scramble in the box with Tobe showing some great quick control to slot home.
MOM - Drew Bridge, a very good game. A constant threat and created so many chances for Josh and Tobe.
This wins means Testway remain top of the SICFL league with one game to play.

The Management Committee have reviewed their position on Double Fixtures for all leagues, in the light comments received.
The problem at present is there are not enough Saturdays to cover the league programme in some of the age groups and divisions, and generally the league is trying to address the problem were games now go into May and many clubs do not have the facilities in May because it engrosses into the cricket season.
The current weather conditions either frost or waterlogged pitches may go on for further weeks yet, and the success of teams in the Hampshire Cup has added to the fixture congestion.
HOWEVER, THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE HAVE DECIDED THAT CLUBS CAN PLAY DOUBLE FIXTURES IF THEY WISH OR THEY CAN MAKE ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS, BOTH TEAMS MUST E-MAIL THE LEAGUE SECRETARY AGREEING THE REVISED DATE.
If they make alternative arrangements and they then cannot complete their commitment through lack of players or distance to travel the outcome of the games will go to the Breach of Rules Committee for a decision.
I will leave all fixtures as they stand on the web site unless I hear from teams involved.
If teams can play fixtures over the Easter Saturday, bring games forward or play midweek this will help.
This decision comes into force immediately and will be ratified at the MC meeting on the 10th March.
All double fixtures already played will stand.
This e-mail should cover all the e-mails I have received over the last few days.
Please make sure your managers are aware, even though I have e-mailed.
CUP SEMI FINALS
See Forum or fixtures for the Semi Final Draw - all games to be played on the 20th March
TESTWAY 5 MID SUSSEX 4
Testway Youth League 5
Mid Sussex 4
Difficult game to play on a very large hard pitch in which the ball bobbled about making it difficult to control.
Testway started the quickest and went 2-0 with both goals coming from Josh, testway then seemed to relax and against a very good and quick forward line up from Sussex found themselves at 2-2 going in to the break.
A lack of football over the last two months were taking there toll with some uncharectistic miss timed tackles and clearences allowed Sussex to take a two goal lead with 15 minutes to go.
The players then dug in and despite heavy legs from a lack of match fitness piled on the pressure with Alex and Tobe hitting the bar before harry got one back to be followed by a great solo run and finish from Tom O.
Testway will feel they were on top and felt the winner was going to come and it did when Tobe fired home from inside the box.
All games postponed on Saturday 9th January have been re-scheduled.
Please note some games are now mid week, the league has tried to re-arrange some local fixtures to midweek to reduce travelling.

WINNING START - TESTWAY 5 OXFORD 1
SEE FIXTURES UNDER 14's FOR LEAGUE TABLE
Oxford Mail Boys League 1
Testway League 5
Tobe 2 (pen 1)
Superb performance tonight, we struggled a little to find our feet in the first half on what was a difficult surface. The pitch was soft and sticky and made it difficult to keep our footing and move the ball around the way we would have liked.
Oxford despite the score were a good side who at times moved the ball around quickly and efficiently and at first we allowed them to do that with ease as we sat off them for large spells.
The goal always looked like coming and as we pressed we were rewarded with a first half goal.
At half time we stressed the need not only to close early but also to start using the wide players to open up the play, as soon as we did this we dominated not only the midfield but also the forwards began to get chances and the goals started to come.
There are a lot of positives from tonight, we as a team were all working for each other, this was evident in the back four where the defenders were all reading the game well and if one missed a tackle another defender had already covered the next challenge. We were really well organised and never really looked under any serious pressure.
Also we encorouaged each other, where there were mistakes and there will always be mistakes the players rallied and lifted each other. There will much more difficult games than this evening and its this attitude that will see us through spells where we are under pressure during games.
It was also a really good attitude form the boys who were on the bench, it will not always be possible to bring the subs on and they were of course aware that may not have had any game time, however they continued to encourage which shows just how strong the squad is. with the game all but won I felt it was right to make substitutions and everyoen played there part.
My man of the match tonight is Harry Stockwell, everyone played well but Harry was exceptional tonight.
I am really pleased with tonight's performance and of course a win to start our campaign, all the players should be rightly proud of what they achieved tonight.

Semi Final draw can be viewed under forum, once all quarter final ties have been played they will be entered on the web site.
Thanks for the games played this week end and for clubs to wait until the frost melted, well done.
All postponed games because of weather have now been rescheduled, include games on the 21st March were teams will be playing in the semi finals.
Please examine the fixtures because there has been several changes, including mid week games.
All midweek games have been scheduled for the Wednesday, but you can play any day during that week to suit you and your opponents.
All cup games postponed last Saturday will now be played next Saturday 21st Feb.
Please check fixtures if you see any mistakes please let me know.
As no scores have come through I have assumed all matches were cancelled this week end.
I have now hopefully completed all the rescheduling and due to school trips some cup ties will be played on the 21st and 28th Feb.
Please refer to the web site for updated fixture list and check for any mistakes.
There has been considerable rescheduling of fixtures so please examine carefully, as some games have been brought forward to the 14th Feb
Some leagues are now playing midweek fixtures and I will examine these to try and avoid long distance travelling were possible.
If any team can play on Easter Saturday please let me know as this is the only free Saturday, all other Saturday’s have or could be used and I am afraid the only reason for postponing a game is either weather conditions or an organised school trip (proof required).
If you wish to re-arrange any of your games to mid week that is fine, providing they are brought forward just let me and your LDR know.
Under 8’s I will leave to the managers to re-arrange any fixtures they may wish to play.
Fingers crossed for next week end.
FIXTURES 7TH FEBRUARY 2009
As you are aware the current and predicted weather condition may have a considerable effect over this coming week end.
If by chance your pitch is ok for this week end, please also consider your opponents travelling conditions, safety must be at the forefront of any decision to play.
If you do play your game, please telephone the result through to me as well as the call centre, otherwise I will consider your game postponed.
This week end is the quarter finals of the cup competition, if your game is postponed all cup matches will be played on the 14th, 21st or 28th February, most will be played on the 14th, the other dates are allowing for school trips that are taking place over half term. If your team is one that is playing a team away on a school trip on 14th or 21st I will try and arrange a league fixture for the 14th Feb.
All league games scheduled for the 7th will be re-scheduled, but please bear in mind in many cases I am now having to re-schedule to midweek fixtures in order to complete the programme and I may have to look at other games, in order to try and organise the long distance travel games to Saturday and more local games for midweek. Therefore your fixture list may change.
Remember there is no free Saturday, so if you make arrangements to be away any Saturday, make sure you have cover.
As you can appreciate a lot of work goes into rescheduling, so please bear with me if I have changed one or two of your dates, and please check, if I have made a mistake let me know immediately so I can address.
If you do play this week end please bear in mind safety first, I would sooner reschedule a game than anybody getting injured.
UNDER 16's PHASE 2
Please refer to fixtures for Under 16’s as Under 16’s division 1 and under 16’s division 2.

AMENDED HANDBOOK DETAILS
There has been considerable changes to the handbook since it was produced, please see under forms and documents at the top of the page for amendments

COMMENTS FROM DAVE KANE REPRESENTING OUR SPONSORS
I thought a few lines congratulating everyone connected to Testway YFL, especially those who helped make last night's event such a memorable one, would go down well.
The lads will always remember the day they represented their League, against Reading under floodlights and the reason why (hopefully).
The kit looked great, there were a couple of potential stars on show and everyone had a good time. Brilliant effort by all.
My lad William asked if he could attend last night for reasons known to him. Fond memories I'm sure and proud to have been part of the league's success.
I am so lucky having a job (hobby) that links me with sport in the community, even better when the company I work for do so much in that community (makes my job easier), evenings such as last night's are what it's all about!
Please pass on to all.
WELL DONE !

The MC are very concerned with the number of issues arising in respect of the above. We felt it would be worth clarifying a number of matters as the Communications in this respect are causing some concerns.
Firstly we will start with Under 8s. There is no possibility at this satge of the season of increasing the Jock McClorey Tournament for their inclusion. That day is free and there is no capacy to create a further tournament. This is the reason for the "exhibition games" at the Mini Soccer Finals. Please note any competition would have to be "administered" by the League and that at this time is not feasible.
Withregard to the Supplementary Cups - A decision was made at the last MC Meeting and in line with our expectations and original thoughts for this Competition it will be the Teams having lost in the first round who will compete. The fixture list for the WHOLE league does not give us time to arrange further games at this stage of the season. We are sorry if this deos not suit all Teams but we have considered withdrawing the Tournament due to the unnecessary correspondence we have received. We do believe Managers need to look at the ideals of the League and the reasons for Mini Soccer. As it would not be fair on the Teams already selected to take part we have decided to keep the tournament as advised. There will be no changes.
Clubs and in particular Managers need to be aware that the TWYFL is run for the benefit of all Clubs in accordance with Competition Rules. The MC administer this and make decisions that have a bearing on the running of ALL of the League. Whilst fixtures are relatively well on target we do have Cup Finals, 20TH Anniversary Game, Martin Turner Cup, Jock MCClorey Tournament and Mini Soccer Finals to run. In addition there are Mandatory Courses to attend as well as conduct other Business of the League. There are many opportunities for people to work on the MC but at AGM time the hands do not go up.
It is unfair on Volunteers to take so much Negative Feedback thrown at them when Managers do not take into consideration the work already done and that ahead to keep the Competions being played on time.
I hope those concerned will take this to heart.

Testway YFL 5 Peter Houseman 0 Under 14's
Testway Youth under 14th reps win 5-0 against a Peter Houseman reps team,
Playing with determination & plenty of skilful passing out played their opponents,
This was not a poor Houseman’s team, just a very good all round performance by Testway, controlling the play through
Without the Houseman’s keeper playing a blinder the score could easily have been more
All the players were on top of their game and the passing and movement was a joy to watch, without doubt their best all round performance so far this season, each showing great strength, energy and skill. But most of all, playing together as a team

Testway Youth league Under 13 representative won their match against Peter Houseman Youth league 2-0 with goals from James McArthur and Finn Drury early in the second half. Peter Houseman were the better side in the first period but could not turn the advantage into goals with the Testway putting up a determined defence. |LETTER REGARDING UNDER 17's NEXT SEASON|
Andy Vellenoweth has mentioned you have had interest in setting up an u-17's league next season. So far both Pete White (Fordingbridge Falcons) and I (Fordingbridge u-16 A) are interested in the idea of combining our teams into one side.
However there are a couple of things which may help you to attract teams into the League. As you will know, the biggest problems with football post 15 are the number of distractions / responsibilities kids start to acquire (jobs, girls, exams, cars) and this can lead to a lack of committment on a regular basis even though some limited comittment could be possible for most lads.
In short, it may help teams if their squad sizes could be increased to take this into account - to say, 25. This is similar to adult football which recognises the problems clubs can have getting through a season with a limited squad.
Secondly, it would be best if we could have more games on a more regular basis - this season was very disapointing in that respect with only 14 league games from September. To many blank weekends affected continuity and committment - leading to a loss of momentum.
If the League could attract at least 6 sides I'd be looking for 20 League fixtures.
If there were 7 sides I'd want 18 fixtures as a minimum and preferably 24.
If there were 8 sides I'd want 21 fixtures.
Would you give this some consideration please as I do feel it could make it more attractive.
Whatever happens, thanks at least for thinking about the older lads for next season.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SECRETARY IS AWARE.

An exciting games with two evenly balanced teams, the Peter Houyseman league opened the scoring early in the first half, with the Testway League equalising and missing a penalty.
The second half saw the Testway League take the lead, only for Peter Houseman to equalise and they increased the pressure for a winning goal, only for the Testway League to score the winning goal after a fine passing movement.
Well done lads.
Martin Turner Inter League Cup

INTER LEAGUE UNDER 12'S
Testway YFL 0 Peter Housemna YFL 3
Bishops Waltham represented the league in this the first of 10 inter league games. Three brilliantly taken goals by the Peter Houseman league wrap up this victory, however, it was not as one sided at the score line suggests. The home side put up a very spirited display against a reps team and had as much of the play, hitting the post shortly after PHYFL scored their first goal just before half time. Pushing forward in the second half to try and equalise gave the PHYFL the opportunity to counter attacked and score two further goals.
Both goalkeepers were outstanding.
One game down but 9 to go.
WELL DONE TO BISHOPS WALTHAM UNDER 12'S FOR PUTTING UP SUCH A GREAT PERFORMANCE
